Career Background

Previously, I worked at atama plus, developing algorithms for an AI-based learning system for middle and high school students. Before joining Turing, I was at Treasure Data, working on ML features for a data platform for marketers called CDP.

I have loved AI since my student days, and with the advent of deep learning in 2012, I felt that the time had finally come for AI to dramatically change society. I am passionate about using AI to fundamentally transform industries and businesses.

Why I Joined Turing

About 10 years have passed since people started saying AI would dramatically change society, but my surroundings had not changed that much. I would wake up rubbing my sleepy eyes, eat toast from the oven toaster for breakfast, and ride the crowded train to work. Even as receipt scanning and recommendation engine performance improved, I did not really feel it was making a difference in my daily life.

During a casual interview with Turing, I heard that Tesla was using AI for autonomous driving, and I thought this would be AI that actually makes a difference in daily life. That was what prompted me to join.

What I Do

  • Gathering requirements from ML engineers and organizing specifications
  • Creating development roadmaps
  • Maintaining data pipelines
  • Designing and implementing optimal data pipelines and data formats for ML training
  • Building platforms for desk-based ML model testing

What Makes My Work Rewarding

  • The inherent fascination of the autonomous driving domain
  • Having an environment equipped to train large models in-house
  • Being able to experience the autonomous driving we build ourselves
  • Working with a strong sense of speed

About the Work Environment at Turing

  • Having ML engineers nearby makes it easy to understand their pain points.
  • Our MLOps platform primarily leverages cloud services, enabling us to handle massive amounts of data.
  • True to our GoGo value, when you believe something should be done and advocate for it, you are basically free to pursue it. It is an environment where such initiative is respected.

Who Thrives at Turing

  • People who enjoy the autonomous driving domain
  • People who love technology
  • You, the person reading this article

For Those Considering Turing

If you have even the slightest interest, please come visit Turing’s office or lab. I am sure you will be excited.

My Car

Nissan Note (e-Power)

I was actually a paper driver until joining Turing, and this is my first car. Not knowing anything, I went to a Toyota certified pre-owned dealer and somehow found a Nissan Note there. Despite its low mileage, it was reasonably priced so I chose it. It is a hybrid with great fuel efficiency and excellent acceleration, so it is my favorite.

Cars I’d Like to Drive

I would like to try driving a stiffer car next. I also want to try the latest ADAS systems.
