Career Background
After completing my master’s degree, I joined SenseTime Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of the Hong Kong-based AI startup SenseTime, which conducts R&D in image recognition and deep learning. As a researcher, I was responsible for R&D of image recognition technology for automotive cameras for autonomous driving with OEMs. In the later period, I also served as project manager and technical lead. Working closely with clients, I did not just build recognition models — I collected data together with clients and conducted experiments deploying systems on real vehicles, making it very rewarding work.
Why I Joined Turing
I was attracted by the ambitious goal of achieving fully autonomous driving. Watching the recent rapid advances in autonomous driving technology development in the US and China, I felt that now is the only time to build autonomous driving. I felt that Turing was genuinely confronting this challenge, and I wanted to be part of it, which led me to join.

What I Do
- Improving model architecture and training methods
- E2E model performance evaluation
- Conducting control experiments and performing evaluation and issue analysis
- Camera calibration and more
What Makes My Work Rewarding
- The challenges themselves are extremely difficult and yet unsolved, making them well worth taking on.
- It is incredibly exciting to actually drive on public roads under control of models we built. Having built recognition features at my previous job, I find this aspect particularly fascinating.

About the Work Environment at Turing
- Everything needed for autonomous driving development is in place — talent, compute resources, test vehicles, and more.
- There are many great people, and it is enjoyable working together.
Who Thrives at Turing
- People who want to build autonomous driving.
- People who love cars.

My Car
Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce
When I joined, I was driving a Volvo V40 — a solid, great car. When it came time for the second vehicle inspection, I started looking for the sports car I had always admired. The Alfa Romeo has an eye-catching distinctive appearance and is the perfect car that responds when you step on the gas and turn the wheel.
Cars I’d Like to Drive
I am interested in mid-engine (MR) cars such as the Alfa Romeo 4C, Alpine A110, and Lotus Elise.
